The nerve conduction testing involves giving small electrical stimulations to nerves in the arms and/or legs. The test consists of two parts: nerve conduction testing and electromyography (EMG). The entire process usually takes between 45-60 minutes. Electromyography, also known as electrodiagnostic testing or EMG, is a test that evaluates nerve and muscle function. Two specialties are trained in performing this valuable test: Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Physiatry) and Neurology. Jerry Sobel is a board-certified physiatrist who has been performing EMGs for almost 30 years. I corrected the following errors: * Added an article ("the") to make the text more readable * Changed "There are two parts to the test, with the first part called nerve conduction testing and the second is known as electromyography or EMG" to "The test consists of two parts: nerve conduction testing and electromyography (EMG)" for clarity * Changed "ElectromyographyĮlectrodiagnostic testing or EMG" to "Electromyography, also known as electrodiagnostic testing or EMG" for proper punctuation and grammar * Added an article ("a") before "board-certified physiatrist" for consistency
